Marketplace Guidelines

What it is

The Wee Amici Marketplace is a resource through which members may buy, sell, trade, give away, receive free items, share, post "in search of" messages, look for or recommend nannies, sitters, housekeepers and other posts. Posts are for members personal use only.

Our community is based on core values of integrity, respect and connection. All transactions should reflect this spirit. The Marketplace is a great way to recycle gear, perhaps recoup a little money, and to help each other. It’s also a wonderful place for recommendations for household help and childcare

What's allowed

Allowed:

• Selling and giving away personal items (learn how to list an item  in this article)
• Selling homemade goods
• Offering free or paid services (e.g. babysitting, dog walking) in the Services category
• Posting about garage sales (though we recommend creating an event)

Not allowed:

• Listing items that you are selling for a business, including resellers, commercial consignment and estate sellers. No business use
• Listing items as part of an incentive sales program (e.g. Mary Kay, Amway, Avon, Scentsy, etc.)
• Listing gift cards
• Listing the same item or service more than once at the same time
• Deleting and reposting a listing in order to increase its visibility (Note: So as to not overwhelm members, reposts are allowed at least 7 days after your initial post and can only be reposted once)
• Posting links to items on other classified sites
• Selling, offering, or trading items on our list of prohibited goods and services
• Price gouging. Charging an unreasonably high price for essential consumer goods and services during an emergency or disaster
• No posting for friends

Our policies on illegal or regulated goods and spam also apply to the Marketplace.

Advisories

Advisory for Products

The rare times problems arise in transactions, the common denominators are: an item was paid for sight unseen, or picked up by a 3rd party, or sale terms were not communicated prior to payment (i.e.: final sale/return window or conditions etc.). We recommend an in-person transaction - with payment upon inspection of the item.

Sellers:

• Ensure the buyer has the opportunity to inspect and pick up the item.
• Be clear about your return policy.
• Be clear about when the item needs to be picked up.
• Honor agreements made with the first interested party.
• Mark "sold" on your post when your item is claimed.

Buyers:

• Review and inspect the item at time of purchase.
• Make payment on the agreed time.
• Understand the return policy prior to purchasing.
• Show up on the agreed time/date for the transaction. Be mindful of the seller's time and schedule.

Advisory for Services

Many of you will use the Marketplace to find or refer household help, nannies, sitters, night nannies, infant care specialists, etc. Please keep in mind that while our Marketplace is an amazing resource, it is not a replacement for background checks, reference checks, and for due diligence on your part during the hiring process.

• Equal Opportunity: Posting with racial/ethnic/national origin, etc. preferences is not permitted. While it is OK to list language and other skill set based requirements, it is not permitted to express preferences on the basis of age, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, sex, marital status, familial status, or disability.
• Firsthand Experience or Familiarity: When submitting recommendations please post info about nannies, sitters, household help, dog walkers, etc. only if you have firsthand experience with them (have hired them yourself or are very well acquainted with them and their previous employer). Do not share information about people you cannot serve as a reference for. Do not pass on information about people that you have met casually or who have solicited you to do so.
• Background Checks/Reference: Please mention whether or not you have run a background check on the person you are recommending or previously verified their references.
• List with Full Name: When referring caregivers or household help please list the person's full name. If you prefer to speak with interested parties prior to passing along your caregiver's information, provide your contact information rather than the caregiver's.
• Citizenship, immigration status, and preferred methods of salary payments should not be included in posts. These are private third-party matters and should be discussed offline between employers and employees. It is solely the responsibility of an employer to verify information relating to payroll.

Some words of caution when buying/selling used products

• Before buying a used item make sure to check for recalls.Search recalls here .
• A used seat may have been in a crash or recalled. The manufacturer’s instructions may be missing. If you purchase a secondhand seat, make sure you know the history of the item. The age of the seat may also pose safety concerns after 5 years. These two articles may help.
• Older models cribs may not meet safety requirements.Beginning June 28, 2011, all cribs manufactured and sold (including resale) must comply with new and improved federal safety standards. The details of the rule are available on CPSC’s website here . For more info try these two articles.
• We do not accept posts for used Breast Pumps (ISO or FS). Please read: These articles , article or article; or these from the FDA .
• Some older crib mattresses may be covered in PVC Vinyl which can contain Phthalates that were banned in 2008. Some older models may also contain fire retardants (PBDE's) that have been banned due to health and environmental concerns.
• The foregoing is not intended to be an exhaustive list of considerations when buying or selling used items. Conduct your own assessment and research of products, recalls and advisories before making determinations on buying or selling used items.

Seller code of conduct

Trust is essential to creating an amiable experience on Wee amici. We want members to feel comfortable selling and buying from each other.

To help facilitate this trust, follow this code of conduct based on the main principle of our Community Guidelines: Treat all members with kindness and respect.

• Follow through. After you've made arrangements for pickup or delivery of an item, show up or be available at the agreed upon time.
• Sell as advertised. Make sure that your listing accurately reflects the condition of the item and the price at which you want to sell it. Don't surprise buyers by increasing the price, or not offering the item as advertised in your listing.
• Don't profit from the generosity of other neighbors. There are many generous members on Wee amici offering their items for free. Taking advantage of that generosity by selling an item you received for free is considered a breach of trust.

We encourage members to resolve disagreements in a kind and compassionate manner. If a buyer is unhappy with an item they've purchased or if a seller is unhappy with the way a transaction was handled, please try to resolve this in a community minded fashion. The Marketplace is intended as a way for neighboring parents to help each other. While Wee amici does not get involved in individual transactions between members, members may share their concerns or complaints via e-mail at: support@weeamici.com.

If we receive complaints about an individual seller, we may take one or more of the following actions:
• Contact the seller with a warning.
• Place the seller on read-only access temporarily or permanently.
• Suspend the seller’s account temporarily or permanently.

Disputes and interactions that have occurred outside of the Wee Amici platform cannot be verified by Wee Amici Support. As a result, we may require complaints from multiple buyers before taking more severe actions like restricting a seller’s access to Wee Amici.
