Thomas starts kinder next year and I'm already losing sleep over the HISD vs private debate 😅 We're zoned to a decent school but I keep going back and forth on whether it's worth the private school tuition, especially with the twins right behind him. For those of you who've been through this — did you regret stressing so much, or was the decision actually as big as it feels?
Signed up to coach Miles' 4U soccer team this fall and I'm already questioning my life choices - half the kids just want to pick grass and my own son literally sat down mid-game last weekend. That said, seeing him actually kick one in and look for me on the sideline was worth the chaos. Any dads out there done the coaching thing through the older years - does it get better or am I setting myself up for years of burnout?
Moved to Spring Branch two years ago and honestly outside of work and Ellie's soccer parents, I don't really have a solid friend group here. Everyone's polite at drop-off but it never seems to move past that surface level small talk. My wife has had better luck through a moms group but us dads seem to just nod at each other and keep it moving. How'd you guys actually break through and turn acquaintances into real friends?
Lucia's finally at the age where taking her out isn't total chaos, but I'm tired of the same rotation of loud chain spots with sticky menus. Looking for places where the food is actually good and no one glares at you when a baby drops a spoon. We've been doing Blacksmith mornings and Pinkerton's early dinners, but I need to expand the list. What are your go-tos?
Mateo gets maybe 30 min of Bluey while I'm trying to get Isla down for her nap, and honestly some days it creeps to an hour when I'm on a deadline and just need to draft in peace. I feel guilty about it but also… the man needs to eat and I need to work. Are y'all doing hard daily limits or more of a vibes-based approach?
Noa's been on formula since 6 weeks after breastfeeding just wasn't working for us and honestly she's thriving, but I'm so tired of the side comments from family, coworkers, even a lady at HEB last week. My supply tanked when I went back to work early and I made the call that was right for us. How do you all shut this down without losing your mind?
Took Oliver to that kids place on Washington and he lost it the second the cape went on. Ended up with one side buzzed and the other untouched because we had to bail — my wife finished it with kitchen scissors at home and now he looks like a tiny Beatle. Please tell me y'all have worse stories?
